Ion-water collisions at intermediate energies

چکیده
Synopsis We employ the independent event electron model in the framework of the classical trajectory Monte Carlo method to compute ionization and capture cross sections for oneand twoelectron processes in collisions of H, He and C with water molecules at intermediate impact energies. Subsequente fragmentation processes are also considered, as well as the differential cross sections for electron emission, of paramount importance for ion beam therapy.

Isospin relaxation time in heavy - ion collisions at intermediate energies
Using an isospin-dependent transport model, we have studied the isospin and momentum relaxation times in the heavy residues formed in heavy-ion collisions at intermediate energies. It is found that only at incident energies below the Fermi energy, chemical or thermal equilibrium can be reached before dynamical instability is developed in the heavy residues. Also, the isospin relaxation time is ...
متن کاملIsotope analysis in central heavy ion collisions at intermediate energies
Symmetry energy is a key quantity in the study of the equation of state of asymmetric nuclear matter. Heavy ion collisions at low and intermediate energies, performed at Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro and Laboratori Nazionali del Sud, can be used to extract information on the symmetry energy coefficient Csym, which is currently poorly known but relevant both for astrophysics and for structure ...
متن کاملHeavy ion collisions at intermediate energies in a quark-gluon exchange framework
Heavy ion collisions at intermediate energies can be studied in the context of the Vlasov-Uehling-Uhlenbeck (VUU) model. One of the main features in this model is the nucleon-nucleon (NN) cross section in the collisional term. Quark interchange plays a role in the NN interaction and its effect can be observed in the cross section. We explore the possibility that quark interchange effects can ap...
متن کاملChemical Equilibrium and Isotope Temperatures
The measurement and interpretation of isotopic yield ratios in heavy ion reactions at intermediate and high energies are discussed and the usefulness of these observables for establishing equilibrium properties and for determining thermodynamic parameters is illustrated. The examples are mainly taken from work performed with lighter projectiles at intermediate and high energies and from studies...
متن کاملPhotons from heavy-ion collisions at Fermi velocity.
The production of photons from heavy-ion collisions at intermediate energies is studied in the model based on the Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck equation. Taking into account photon production from nucleon-nucleon collisions, the theoretical results are in reasonable agreement with the experimental data at 40 MeV/nucleon, but cross sections are smaller by about a factor of 5, compared to experimen...
